This was my first Comic-Con and I was very excited to go FINALLY. The First thing I did was read up on it get some tips on what to do, so I don't miss out on anything. The First thing they said was get there early. Now there is early and then there is EARLY. My interpetation of early was showing up 2 hours early. Little did I know, that wasnt early enough. The line to pick up my badge was probably about a mile long, if not longer. The worst part was there was another long ass line for pre registration for next year. Keep in mind I got here at 7am and there were already two mile long lines for comic-con. At this point, i figured I'm already doing it wrong. The next tip I read on is bring a camera. This is a good one, mainly because using your phone for pictures well, you will drain your battery pretty fast, since there is probably a shitload of pictures you want to take throughout the day. If you do not posess a camera, just make sure you bring a phone charger, there are many outlets throughout the convention center. Next Tip was bring snacks and a bottle for water. If you are a panel person, then you will be spending a lot of time in line or sitting in a room, so if you find yourself hungry during this time, it would be benefitial to have something to eat handy. I personally went with some peanut butter breakfast bars, pringles (because not to messy and the pringle can protects the chips from breaking) and two bottles for water(I drink a lot). The food there isnt reasonably priced, $4 dollars for a 20oz coke and $8.50 for some crappy pizza isn't the way you want to go. They do have some restaurants around the convention center, so you can leave and come back if you like. The Last piece of advice i took, was bring your own backpack. Those Swag bags are cool, I was lucky enough to trade my big bang theory bag to a hot chick for a Thunder Cats Bag. I wish I could of gotten the Justice League or The Batman Bag, but whatever.
Panels
Panels are actually worth the wait, I only went to three panels during Comic-Con mainly because I hate waiting in lines. They were all very entertaining, especially The Batman year one Panel, where we seen the movie and talk to the actors and producers. It's actually kinda cool that they allow fans to ask questions. You also never know who is going to show up, Like when Seth Green showed up during OH you sexy geek Panel. He was actually sitting 15ft away from me. I knew the guy was short but damn that guy is a midget. I wish I would of had the patience to go to more, maybe next year, especially if they have a Dark Knight Rises Panel, I will endure the lines. My recommendations for Panels is go early, even if that means you have to sit through a couple of panels you do not wish to see. If you want to a good seat at a more popular panel, for example, True Blood, prepare to wait in line or in a room forever. Anything in Hall H or Ballroom 20 have the most popular panels because they are the biggest rooms. Here is my logic for those rooms, there were some panels I would have loved to have seen but the spending probably 5hrs in line for a 1 hour panel hardly seem worth it to me. I think if i wanted to see at least 4 panels, then the wait wouldn't seem all that bad. That's saying I want to spend an entire day inside one room, granted its only $40 bucks a day, but you really have say to yourself, is it worth it?
Exibit Floor
This is my favorite part of Comic Con and where I spent 90% of my time. This is were you find all the HOt girls, wandering celebs, free comics, t-shirts, posters, more hot girls, artist, bloggers, etc. I didn't plan out the freebie stuff, which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! All the good stuff goes fast, I was lucky enough to get my Thunder Cats Sword and My Street Fighter X Tekken Shirt. Where do i begin to explain the madness of the Exibit Floor. Lets start with the booths, you had TV network booths, FOX, ABC, Cartoon Network and then you have Movie studios booth like Warner Bros and Legendary there. My favorite booths were the video games booth, Capcom was the best, they had ultimate MVC3, SFXTekken, Resident Evil project racoon city all for your playing pleasure. They also held touraments for Ultimate MVC3 and SFXTekken everyday. I didnt get a chance to enter the touraments but i did get to play on the feature stage where I won 5 in a row, thus getting a Tshirt and a Ryu and Kazuya bobble head. THQ, Nintendo, and Square Enix also there, they had some awesome game demos. Dead Island was fun, I remember that awesome trailer they had and when I seen it there I just had to check it out. Lego and Mattel had booths, they were selling exclusives. I didnt check out because I really dont collect toys, but it must of been some good stuff because they seem to have large lines. DC and Marvel didnt have booths but stages, DC was giving out comics while, the Marvel Booth was promoting their movies. Captain America himself even made an appearence. They have an area for the artist, writers, and bloggers. Hear is where I took interest in reading comics, Some of the work they do is simply amazing and has inspired me to actually read some comics this year. I could go on and on about all the booths, my recommendation is, give at least one day to the exibit floor, there is so much to see and my opinion the best part about comic-con.
Now the one part is missed out on, that i wish I hadn't was all the after parties, There are so many bars near The Convention Center, due to lack of money and the trolly closing at 12:30 i could not explore this wonderland. I hear through my friends on Twitter that the night life is fun. So definitely plan for that. Next year, Im planning to stay in a hotel downtown, that way i dont have to worry about how im getting home. Well this had been my take on Comic-Con, I had a great time, I can't wait to do it again next year. Hope this will help some of you prepare for next year. Oh yeah, I did not forget about the ladies, I'm making another post just for them :D
